Nexus Division Preview

By Hoku

After a brief hiatus, Nexus Division is back and better than ever. Featuring a great mix of 10 old and new teams, with one week on the books, this season is shaping up to be a test of veterans vs new looks.

Came From Behind – Essentially unchanged after 2 seasons in Div A, this team could be in a position to make some noise. Although their round 1 match has a scheduling delay, it will be fun to see how they handle moving up a division into some new challenges.

Can’t Connect Stuns – Another team that has been around for a while, CCS2 is no stranger to the Nexus Division. They also hit a bit of a scheduling snafu, so we need to wait a week to see how well they fare this season.

Crit Kickers – After having a dominant season in Div A, they move up to Nexus. They have had quite a bit of roster turnover, but in their first match, a 2-0 domination over Meta Tragedy Simps, they seem to be stronger than ever.

Durotan’s Couch – This is another team that has seen top tier play, and it appears they are maintaining that in their first week domination over Meta Tragedy Simps. Carrying one of the largest rosters in the division, they have plenty of depth if they need to change things up to meet each week’s challenges.

gillyShark at !Bingo night – As the team with the longest NGS history in this division, and a very stable roster, they make the jump this season for the first time into the Nexus Division. While they did lose their first week matchup against Lightwell Unleashed., they have plenty of time to settle in and develop as the season goes on.

haunted house – This is a brand new team, featuring a number of people new to NGS. While they haven’t played any matches yet, they have had time to watch their opponents and plan best how to deal with this. Welcome new players!

Lightwell Unleashed. – Yes, the period is in the team name. This is another new team, comprised mostly of veterans, but most of them haven’t been exposed to this level of play. They did dominate gillyShark at !Bingo night in week 1, so it will be fun to track their progress through the next few weeks.

Magnitude: Tsunami – This is a team that formed at the end of last season, and is comprised mostly of players who have played together in the past. Although their roster is smaller than most, they had a strong showing in week 1 with a domination over Under Newb Management. The next two weeks should make it clear where they stack up in this competitive division.

Meta Tragedy Simps – Another new team, with several new players, this team has shown very quirky (but fun!) drafts to start. Although they lost in dominations to both Durotan’s Couch and Crit Kickers, you have to respect a team that comes out of the gate with a Cho’gall comp!

Under Newb Management – This is yet another team with an extended history in NGS, who have been placed in the highest divisions each season. Although they did lose in a domination in week 1 vs Magnitude: Tsunami, they should be able to get back into the swing of things quickly.

LET’S GO NEXUS!
