Hello, hello and welcome to Meet the Volunteers! Not everyone knows who all makes up the NGS staff so we thought it might be a good idea if you, the community, got to know the people running the League a little bit better. As a result, we’ve put together this list of job roles and people assigned to them to help everyone understand exactly what it is we do. Here are the people who make all of this possible.

Board Members

The Board consists of 9 members who share ownership of the Nexus Gaming Series Association and all its assets (including the website, which is co-administered by the Director of the Tech Team, wraithling).
Oversee the daily operations of NGS and have final say in all league setup, administration, and format.
Required to sign a contract that covers upholding duties as a representative of the league, responsibilities within the association, community interaction, and protection of personal information.
Required to recuse themselves from any conflicting situations (i.e. being a player in the league when their team’s placements are being decided). They cannot be a part of or cast a vote to decide on any actions regarding the Rules Enforcement Committee, scheduling conflicts, or other issues that involve themselves, a team member, or someone they have a personal relationship with.

Speaker of the Board

Non-voting assistant to the Board.
In charge of scheduling meetings and coordinating agendas, ensuring league goals are met, and generally making sure the community is running smoothly.

Aura – Division Moderator, Head of Discord Committee, herder of cats

Head Moderator

In charge of both NGS Division Moderators and Community Moderators.
Main point of contact for moderators to learn or ask questions.
Makes the final decisions on issues between teams that have been escalated beyond Division Moderators.
Meets with any moderators who have shown inappropriate behavior or are in need of assistance with their responsibilities.

Division Moderators

Manage a Division (or one coast within a Division) in NGS. This includes assisting players with scheduling issues, moderating division and Twitch chat channels to ensure sportsmanlike behavior is maintained, solving disputes between teams, answering questions about the rules, and reviewing and approving new roster adds as necessary.
Must know and understand the Rules and FAQ and where to find them in order to properly direct others and answer questions correctly and efficiently.
Must always show respect and promptness when dealing with any scheduling or general conflicts within their Division. For this reason, moderators are not permitted to oversee the same Division they play in.
Experienced moderators are paired with new moderators in Divisions with coastal splits so they may act as a mentor and make themselves available to the entire Division if need be.

Community Moderators

Ensure NGS discord and Twitch chat channels stay within community guidelines. Community Moderators are typically the first NGS members to hold people accountable for their actions in chat.
Assist players and captains by answering their questions, indicating where the answer to a question may be found, or directing them to the appropriate NGS staff members who are able to answer their questions.
Community Moderators may assist in Division Moderator duties if a Division Moderator is unavailable.

Tech Team

Responsible for creating and maintaining the Nexus Gaming Series website.
Oversee the league database which include: players, teams, divisions, results, replays, statistics, and more.
Act as technical experts and advise the Board on all issues and decisions relating to the website and other digital NGS assets.

Responsible for creating all official NGS artwork and media assets including: logos, banners, blog art, caster overlays, and much much more!
Works alongside the Tech Team to make all graphics needed for the NGS website.
Assists in giving NGS a modern and stylish representation in the eSports scene.

Writers

Responsible for writing and publishing original works on the NGS website covering various aspects of Heroes of the Storm and NGS play.
The Editor in Chief is responsible for proofreading all articles and publishing them on the NGS website.

Head Caster and Assistant

Responsible for overseeing the introduction of new casters, managing all official NGS caster assets, and creating instructional videos.
Reviews casts and streams to ensure all NGS rules and guidelines are being followed and that quality content is being produced.
Organizes weekly content for the NGS Twitch Channel, including the Thursday Night Showdown.
Manages the NGS YouTube channel by uploading all content and creating playlists.

Analysts

In charge of researching all statistics and trends within NGS; some Analysts are assigned to specific divisions to follow smaller trends and more specific meta statistics.
Assist with NGS content creation by providing statistics and interpretation of trends.

Store Manager

Responsible for overseeing all activities regarding the NGS Web Store.
Work closely with the Board to provide seasonal promotion/events.

Events

Responsible for developing the structure of our seasons, playoffs, and other events.
Works directly with the Rules Committee to make sure any new structure notations or regulations are properly notated in the NGS rules.
Functions as event staff for all NGS Events, including coordinating brackets, moderating tournaments and chat channels, and collecting community feedback afterwards.

Rules Enforcement

Responsible for addressing violations of the NGS Rules and Code of Conduct on a case by case basis.
Keep a running history of past and present cases and decisions work in tandem with the board to address requested appeals in regards to past decisions.
Act as the first line of defense in a suspected smurfing situation.

Responsible for maintaining and organizing the NGS Discord.
Revamp and update the Discord each offseason to accommodate new teams and divisions and add/delete channels based on community feedback.
Test and implement a variety of bots to assist in running the league.
Keep channels and pins clean and up to date throughout the season.

Hiring

Responsible for announcing job openings and calls for volunteers to the community.
Coordinates job postings and descriptions with all the different groups within staff (Analysts, Writers, Casters, etc.) to make sure everyone’s staffing needs are being met.
Interviews all volunteers who wish to join the staff to ensure that people’s talents and skills are being put to the best use.

Patreon

Responsible for developing Patreon rewards and tier levels and reviewing in the offseason for any updates or improvements.
Deliver all digital and physical Patreon rewards for each season before the next season begins.
Engage with patrons to collaborate on additional rewards and ideas for one day, for fun events.

Rules

Responsible for writing and editing the NGS Rules; most work is done in the offseason, but can perform midseason clarification and updates as necessary.
Evaluates the competitive validity of skins and mounts on a case by case basis.
Works directly with the Competition Committee to discuss and implement changes to the NGS competition structure.
Works directly with the Disciplinary Committee to uphold the NGS rules and regulations.
